Who should take a food Tour

1. Are these tours appropriate for children?

Our experiential food tours have been developed for food and history loveRs.  So if you believe that your child is experimentative with food and is able to walk for at least 45 mins on a tour, you are welcome to bring them along.

Please note that ALL CHILDREN, ages 3+, need a paid ticket. We assume that if your child is below age 3 they will not be participating in the food tastings. Either way, please INDICATE WHEN YOU SIGN UP WHETHER YOU ARE BRINGING A CHILD ON THE TOUR, SO THAT OUR TOUR HOST CAN BE PREPARED. Please also note that strollers are not advisable on the tour, due to the many narrow sidewalks that we walk on, the uneven cobble stone streets that we cross, certain staircases that we use when entering establishments, and the very small shops that we may visit.

2. How much walking is involved?

Not more than you can handle! The pace is usually good for everyone. We cover enough of a neighbourhood to satisfy everyone’s curiosity. We are on our feet for approximately 3 hours with not more than 2 hours of leisurely walking interspersed with breaks, food and sometimes taxis.

3. Are any of your walking tours wheelchair-and/or stroller-accessible?

Unfortunately, wheelchairs and strollers are not recommended on our tours due to the many narrow sidewalks that we walk on, certain staircases that we use when entering establishments, and the very small shops that we visit.

4. Are tours operated in languages other than English?

Our tours operate only in English at this time.

5. Will I have a good experience taking a food tour as a single person?

We often have singles on our food & culture walking tours, whether they be single travellers or locals looking for something fun & different to do in India. We have found that most people who take our tours are adventurous & sociable, excited about trying Indian food, & open to meeting new people (or even making new friends)! We like to think of each tour group as its own family, exploring India & breaking bread together. If you are open to meeting new people & having a great time, you will have a wonderful time on the food tour.

The Food

1. What kind of restaurants will we visit on the tour?

We visit a variety of signature food establishments as part of each tour. However, we will get you to sample food ONLY at very hygienic and premium establishments. One of our USP’s is to give you a flavour of QUALITY Indian food – so the tasting will be restricted to high quality outlets only. No street vendors will be part of the tastings.

2. Are there any beverages served on the tour?

We provide bottled/ distilled water on ALL our touRs. Besides that, some tours include beverages such as tea and coffee as part of the offer. Others even include alcoholic beverages.

3. How much food does one get to eat?

Enough and often ‘more than enough’ to ensure that you don’t need anything else for the rest of the day. Needless to mention, we have researched the right portion size that allows enough room for you to sample various dishes throughout the tour.

4. What do I do if I have a food allergy or am vegetarian?

In case of any allergies or are strictly vegetarian, please do let us know in advance – it appears on your order confirmation form.

The Weather in India

1. Are the tours conducted in bad weather?

Our tours and their timings are planned according to the weather during that time of the year – mild rain and heat (above 30 degrees C) are common in some parts of the country and do not hinder our touRs. We urge you to dress according to the weather (jacket in winter and light, summer clothing in the summer with umbrellas in the rainy season).  In case of an unforeseen weather or other calamity (procession, election etc.), we will notify you in advance and fully refund your money. Before booking a tour please be aware of the possible weather conditions for that time of year.

2. How should I dress during a tour?

Please wear casual and comfortable clothes and shoes and apply a sunscreen. In keeping with local sentiments, and also to prevent insect or mosquito bites, it is advisable to wear clothes upto or below the knees.

For the Twilight Fine Dining tour, please dress in smart casuals as we will be visiting premium and upmarket food establishments.

3. What is the weather like in India?

You can get an accurate forecast at Weather.com

Logistics(People, Pets, Bathrooms)

1. How long is a tour?

Most of our culinary tours are approximately 4 hours long. We have taken into account the distances in India and the travel time required for you to experience our food heritage in its full glory. After the tour, you are free to explore the area and discover it further if you like.

2. How many people do you take on each tour?

To ensure we are able to give adequate, personalised attention to our guests, our tour group size is always between 5 to 10 guests. If a tour is sold out there is a high chance we will offer another that same day.

3. Are there bathrooms stops?

Of course there are! Your tour host will let you know when the next restroom opportunity is coming up.

4. Are tours offered in languages other than English?

Our tours operate only in English at this time.

5. May I bring my dog on the tour?

Due to the various food establishments we visit and their rules and regulations, pets of any kind are not allowed on this tour.

6. How much walking is involved?

Not more than you can handle! The pace is usually good for everyone. We cover enough of a neighbourhood to satisfy everyone’s curiosity. We are on our feet for approximately 3 houRs. Please note that there are some stairs that we navigate during the tour. If stairs are a problem for you or any of your guests, please indicate that when you purchase your tickets so we can do our best to accommodate your needs.

7. Why am I being charged extra cab charges?

We always go extra mile for our guests! You can book a cab for a drop back to your hotel after the tour ends at a particular point; only it comes at a little extra cost while we ensure you are not hassled with the bookings on your own. The amount of cab charges is estimated basis the number of guests booking the service. Following clarifies it:

0-4 people = $30

5-8 people = $60

above 8 people = $90
